Google acquires a Skybox for $ 500 million

Google announced yesterday signed an agreement to acquire a company Skybox Imaging, a company that specializes in taking pictures of the Earth from satellites, compared to 500 million dollars paid in cash.

Google said through its official website that the company Skybox Imaging will help maintain the quality and accuracy of Google maps and photos of speaking. In addition to that the company hopes to contribute to team Skybox Imaging to help improve Internet access to areas affected by disasters and still the company interested in it long ago.

With Skybox Imaging company announced via her official as happy with this acquisition made by Google, the journey started five years ago to revolutionize access to information and changes occurring all over the surface of the Earth.

The company explained that it had to build and launch smaller satellites in the world, capable of filming high-resolution images, plus video clips daily. She noted that the time is right now to join the Google that can open them more and more daring, to speed up ambitious vision for the company.

The acquisition was closed, being subject to conditions, including obtaining required approvals, which would allow the company to complete its Imaging Skybox as usual until the deal closes.

Recall that Google had acquired in April, the company specialized in manufacturing Aerospace Titan drones, in an attempt to support its initiative for the provision of Internet in remote locations in the world, and have a company Skybox Imaging role.
